Terry Adkins and Jean Wise are our guests on the Outdoor Adventure Series today.
Terry and Jean are the Authors of Iditarod Sled Dog Tales and Tails.
Terry was the only veterinarian on the first running of the Iditarod in 1973; he subsequently raced Iditarod 22 times after that. Terry and Jean currently maintain a kennel of Alaskan huskies and belong to organizations to enhance working dogs' well-being, progress, and research.
Topics We Discussed
Ah Ha Moment
Terry has had the opportunity to do multiple research projects in regard to dog nutrition and general care for working dogs; one project involved observation and treatment solutions for military dogs. Terry and Jean were able to conduct a study in their kennel focusing on parasite control and management; the findings can improve health and well-being for all dogs, not just sled dogs.
Insight2go
