Our guest today on the Outdoor Adventure Series is Katie McKalip.
Katie is an Outdoor Enthusiast and Communications Director at Backcountry Hunters & Anglers. She is also the President of the Outdoor Writers Association of America.
Katies shares a little about her background and how she ended up in Montana, her internship with the Outdoor Writers Association of America, and now as the Communications Director at Backcountry Hunters & Anglers.
Katie discussed an initiative that the BHA is actively involved in, the Recovering America's Wildlife Act. The bill passed the House (06/14/2022) and provides funding for the conservation or restoration of wildlife and plant species of greatest conservation need, including endangered or threatened species, and establishes related requirements.
You can join BHA in urging the Senate to vote on this legislation and thank your Representative for passing this bill by taking action here: https://www.congressweb.com/BHA/289?framed_parent_url_id=91B09691-FF8E-A1CA-3ED224E4D9DD2845

Insight2Go
I read to my two kids every night before bed. As they've grown older, it's opened the door to our exploring some iconic novels and their meanings. I just finished reading The Outsiders with my 12 yo daughter. The first time I'd read it since I was a teenager. It's been making me think about some of the Big Deal themes...including identity, divided communities, empathy, and honor...and what they mean to me as a conservationist but also to us as a society.
