Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of the Outdoor Adventure Series on the Success InSight Podcast. The Outdoor Adventure Series celebrates individuals & families, businesses, and organizations that seek out and promote the exploration of the great outdoors.
Our guests today are Joyce Yoo and Shane Borza
Joyce is a Voice Actor & Career Coach and her husband Shane is a Filmmaker & Life Coach
Joyce & Shane are both rock climbers and filmmakers. They have collaborated on several shorts and feature films about climbing, including their El Cap Wedding, and we enjoy getting outdoors as much as they can.
The couple shared that El Cap Wedding was one of the most fulfilling projects to work on creatively and in terms of collaboration - it was fairly complex being simultaneously a wedding, a complex climbing trip, and a film shoot. They got to be authentic to themselves and despite many challenges, together with their unlikely team, they made it happen.
Reactions were received from people who screened the film, and especially hearing how our parents' friends reacted - both sets of parents hoped for a more traditional wedding, but when their friends were amazed and thought it was so cool (especially Joyce's father who climbed up with us), they were proud.
Joyce and Shane also shared that everyone on the team had scary moments. Joyce’s Maid of Honor is afraid of heights, Joyce's dad thought he might not make it on the hike in, three in the groups had recent injuries, etc. The takeaways were the importance of teamwork, looking out for each other, giving everyone a lot of preparation and training.
